About Bistrot des Alpes
Welcome
On the lively Hobbemakade, a stone's throw from the Rijksmuseum and Museumplein, you will find a piece of the French Alps right in the middle of Amsterdam: Bistrot des Alpes. Perfectly situated for those who want to enjoy a warm, authentic meal after a day of soaking up culture.
The story began with Dieuwertje from Leiden and Thibault from Annecy. In 2010, they opened a small restaurant together on the Col de la Forclaz, high in the French Alps. That is where their love for hospitality and traditional Savoyard cuisine was born.
In 2015, they brought that atmosphere to Amsterdam, where the authentic flavors from the Alps quickly won the hearts of both Amsterdammers and travelers from around the world. In 2025, they moved to the Hobbemakade, a location that is not only beloved by locals but is also ideal for tourists exploring the city's cultural heart.
Today, Dieuwertje and Thibault run not one, but two restaurants. Alongside Bistrot des Alpes, there is Restaurant Mont Blanc on Govert Flinckstraat, a gastronomic destination where chef Thibault continues to build on his culinary dreams. Dieuwertje, the energetic driving force, ensures that both establishments continue to buzz.
At Bistrot des Alpes, you taste the warmth of the mountains, the coziness of a French bistro, and a love for timeless dishes. Whether you are stopping by after a visit to the Rijksmuseum, planning an intimate dinner, or spending an evening with friends around a cheese fondue, you are most welcome.
That mountain spirit still forms the basis of our cuisine. We work closely with producers from Savoie and the surrounding area, with whom we have built a bond over the years.
Our charcuterie comes from Maison Baud, where craftsmanship and family tradition come together in pure, characterful flavors. The cheeses are carefully aged by Caves d'Affinage de Savoie , deep in the mountains, where time and attention make the difference.
We select our wines from Domaine Jean-François Quénard , Domaine Trosset , Domaine des Ardoisières , Maisson Grissard , and La Cave du Prieuré , among others — all producers who let the Alpine terroir speak for itself in fresh, lively wines. We collect the wines ourselves four times a year.
For special digestives, we work with Distillerie des Aravis , known for their refined mountain distillates such as Verbena and Génépi. Our beers come from Brasserie Caquot , a brewery founded by a childhood friend of Thibault. It is a company where people work with immense passion and where we proudly hold customer number 001. Try Chef Thibault's favorite, the IPA.
Savoie can even be found in our tea with Les deux marmottes.
