About Bistrot des Alpes

On the lively Hobbemakade, a stone's throw from the Rijksmuseum and Museumplein, you'll find a taste of the French Alps right in the heart of Amsterdam: Bistrot des Alpes. Perfectly situated for enjoying a warm, authentic meal after a day of culture.

The story began with Dieuwertje from Leiden and Thibault from Annecy. In 2010, they opened a small restaurant together on the Col de la Forclaz, high in the French Alps. That's where their love for hospitality and traditional Savoyard cuisine was born.

In 2015, they brought that atmosphere to Amsterdam, where the authentic flavors of the Alps quickly captured the hearts of both Amsterdammers and travelers from around the world. In 2025, they relocated to Hobbemakade, a location beloved not only by locals but also ideal for tourists exploring the city's cultural heart.

Today, Dieuwertje and Thibault run not one, but two restaurants. Besides Bistrot des Alpes, there's Restaurant Mont Blanc on Govert Flinckstraat, a gastronomic destination where Chef Thibault continues to develop his culinary dreams. Dieuwertje, the energetic driving force behind both establishments, ensures their continued success.

At Bistrot des Alpes, you'll experience the warmth of the mountains, the coziness of a French bistro, and a passion for timeless dishes. Whether you're settling in after a visit to the Rijksmuseum, planning an intimate dinner, or spending an evening with friends over cheese fondue, you're very welcome.
